Polish Vector Wycinanki

Wycinanki!

The Polish art of Paper cutting which originated in the fields by sheepherders. They discovered the beauty in cutting out shapes in scraps of leather and tree bark. Traditional Wycinanki patterns embrace natural elements – flowers, birds, peacocks, roosters and stars.

While learning this beautiful cultural traditional, I have discovered …

  1. I am accident prone when it comes to using an exacto-knife
  2. I have zero patience, specifically when my fingers are sporting band-aids

In order to depict my love for Wycinanki and my Polish heritage, I decided to use my mad geeky skills and create some Wycinanki Vectors in Illustrator. What do you think? Any other Polish patterns you can think of which would be useful as vector art?

This modern interpretation of wycinanki is stunning! I have been looking for ways to nod to my Polish heritage in my home decor and I can assure you that I would use something like what you have created above in my home.
