Fabric Flower

Things you Need:

  • Various fabrics – satin, tulle, taffeta work really well
  • Thread and needle
  • Cardboard (cereal or chip box weight)
  • Fabric Scissors
  • Pins
  • Pencil

Step 1  – Take your cardboard and create the shape of your fabric flower. I used a toonie to make my flower, but a shot glass could work as well. For a larger flower use a glass to trace.  Once the shape is drawn on the cardboard, cut it out. This will be your new pretty flower template.

Fold your fabric so you have 4 layers. Place and pin your template on top.

Cut out your shape! I used pinking shears to be a bit more florally!

Once you’re finished, you should have four separate flower shapes cut out.

Fold flower shape in half. Use the raw side face up (pretty side is folded together) Stitch fabric together. Do this for the remaining 3 pieces.

Take two of the flowers and lay them out next to one another (see photo above) Stitch these two pieces together in the middle.

Take your other two pieces (which are now one) and stack the opposite way on top of your other pieces. Stitch all pieces together.

Fan out all pieces, Look! you have a beautiful fabric flower!
