Designing an invitation for your own wedding can be a challenge…

Oh how I love designing…

Oh, how I hate designing things for myself. I think it takes me twice as long because I over analyze my choices, and then contemplate fonts for a few days.

Fonts… they are my weakness, my downfall and can make or break a design. Actually, I retract that comment for this project.

SKULLS… they are my downfall… they can make or break a design. Ok, mostly break, so let’s chat about skulls.

Now Mikey and I are two very different people, we couldn’t be more opposite, yet so similar… except when it comes to skull apparel. In the progress of designing these invitations I continually pestered and asked his opinion on the 100s of mock-ups I created.  At one point we got into heated discussions about fonts… ugh fonts why do you mock me so!

I played the snotty “but I’m a designer” card and tried to trump his idea of each choosing a font; one font to illustrate my personality and one font to illustrate his personality. Now, I think it was a sweet and creative idea, although can you really picture Stencil and Scripty font mixed together?

Here is where the skull issue comes into play.

Due to the clash of the fonts, a compromise was agreed upon. I could design the invitation anyway I wanted only if a skull was incorporated into the design.

Challenge Accepted!

Take a look. Can you spot the skull?
